Duties of an eco-supporter

An eco-supporter promotes and encourages others to adopt an environmentally friendly culture in the workplace.

What does an eco-supporter do?

The main duty of an eco-supporter is to promote an environmentally friendly operating culture and attitudes within their own work community by encouraging and motivating other staff to make environmentally friendly choices. An eco-supporter does not need to have any previous experience in environmental matters, as they will be trained for the duties, which they will manage alongside their other work duties.

The eco-supporter identifies and addresses areas for development in their workplace and encourages the work community to do the same. They carry out a situation assessment in the workplace and draw up an action plan that the whole work community commits to. Effective eco-support activity requires the whole work community to take environmental matters into account and to support the eco-supporter in their work. Customers and clients can also be included in eco-support activities and the promotion of environmental matters, for example in schools and daycare centres.
